Finding Focus

I have both a restless spirit and the ability to learn things quickly. So all my life I can remember just wanting to take on everything and always I have spread myself thin. Even now I do so many things and want so many things for myself I am almost trapped by trying to hold everything in my basket.

When I go to the grocery store, I have to use a hand held basket to shop or else I will buy too many groceries for me to finish. Always I think of so many dishes to cook. The weight of the basket reminds me to stop buying food.

But unfortunately I can’t do that with the things in my life. And right now I feel the weight of it all. So my trusted solution is to write a list. I love lists.

Things I want to Accomplish Short Term

  • Get better at yoga
  • Build a bike
  • Prepare for Burning Man
  • Prepare for hiking Mt. Whitney
  • Enjoy the beach
  • Start researching what I want to do with my life
  • Bike more
  • Learn to Surf
  • Learn more recipes
  • Backpack more

Things I want to Accomplish Long Term

  • More school?
  • Become fluent in Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, whatever else I can
  • Have a garden
  • Travel
  • Take a 300 hr Teacher Training
  • Have a home where I can entertain and cook for my friends
  • Draw better
  • Find a husband

Things I can give up

  • Composting

Ok so maybe I need to move more things form list 1 to list 3. But…I want it all! I haven’t even listed things related to family. Baby steps though…
