Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life—and travel—leaves marks on you.
Next week I will embark on a journey of healing. Not everything will come to closure, but I will try to work on anything that comes up during my walk through the wilderness.
For example, last weekend I met a group of sport climbers who invited me to join their fun. It was the first group of people I’d met outside of Brandon that were climbers. And it made me realize that I like climbing and that climbing could be something I do for me. I thought I stopped climbing because I didn’t really like it that much. But really I stopped because it reminded me of feeling neglected. So now I can try it again with a clean emotional slate.
The hope is that the Earth will prime the pumps for more revelations like that one. I’ll be making a few stops to visit friends, but the majority of the month will be spent in the wilderness and at least 58 hours in my car.
Here we go.
