I first heard about Mt. Kilimanjaro about 2 years ago when a friend of mine asked me to donate money to his cause: building a school for girls in a small village in Kenya. He and his team would summit the 19,330 ft mountain as part of their efforts to raise awareness about the gender discrimination and poverty surrounding African Children.
How many college age students would spend their time, researching the problem, researching the answer, fundraising, and training for a cause like this? I personally know only a handful. Dedicating my time to an cause bigger than myself is something I’ve never done but always wanted. So when this opportunity crossed my path, I decided nothing was going to stop me. No excuses this time. No obstacle too large. No thing more important. No regrets. Only challenges. Here we go.
